Saltire Team Gymnastics is East Lothian's largest gymnastics club with over 400 members to date. The club are proud to be able to offer gymnastics coaching for participants at grass roots level right up to international performance level. We aim to create a training environment that teaches all of our gymnasts the value of effort and learning, improving personal performance, positively dealing with challenges and adopting a sport for life mentality.

We have a number of highly skilled and qualified coaches, some with 20+ years of experience in the sport including former British Champions, European Medallists, Scottish Gymnastics Tutors and Assessors and members of both the Scottish and British Gymnastics TeamGym Technical Panels.

Our History

Saltire Team Gymnastics was formed in 2011, following the merger of Dalkeith Gymnastics Club and Midlothian TeamGym, when both clubs made Meadowmill Sports Centre their principal training venue.

At present, Saltire has a membership of over 400 gymnasts, made up of pre-school, beginners, intermediate, development, competitive, performance and adult gymnasts.

What is TeamGym?

TeamGym is a gymnastics discipline which takes place over three pieces of apparatus; floor, vault and trampette. It is fast-paced and highly technical, and allows gymnasts to be part of exciting team competitions. Teams are made up of 6-12 gymnasts, and can be female, male or mixed.

Routines in TeamGym require excellent teamwork combined with the acrobatic elements that are essential for all gymnastics disciplines. As such, TeamGym fosters great team spirit amongst gymnasts, as well as providing entertainment for spectators!

Saltire Success

Saltire's vision is "to be the most inclusive and successful TeamGym club in the UK" as we continue to grow in the coming years.

2016 was a successful year for the club. In July, our Senior Women's Team were crowned British Champions in Liverpool. This success was followed by an impressive seven Saltire gymnasts being selected to represent Great Britain in the TeamGym European Championships, held in Slovenia in October 2016.
Two of our representatives, Adam Souter and Fraser McLeod, were part of the Junior Men's team who won Bronze at the European Championships - Great Britain's first ever medal at the event!

In 2018, Saltire open their own facility by Meadowmill Sports Centre where our recreational and development classes are based. This facility has allowed our programme of classes to expand.
Saltire continued to boast huge success in 2018 when six of our gymnasts, and coach Tracey Brown, were selected to represent Great Britain in the TeamGym European Championships, held in Portugal in October 2018.
